Description
Removal of a hypermature Morgagnian cataract and glaucomatous cataracts by phacoemulsification presents a unique challenge. Even if the capsulorhexis is adequately managed, and despite liberal use of viscoelastics, the lack of cortical and epinuclear cushion make fragmentation risky; contact with sharp nuclear edges can lead to an increased chance of posterior capsular tear. Here we show our simple method of safe nucleus phacoemulsification in such cases.
