This presentation demonstrates how strategically aborting or deferring an intervention intraoperatively in a crisis situation can achieve better outcomes. In an eye with a shallow anterior chamber with hard eye before cortical clean up, proceeding further could worsen a possible suprachoroidal effusion or expulsive hemorrhage. It was decided to abort and revisit the case in a few days.
