Phacoemulsification tips are being redesigned to give surgeons more confidence in their cataract surgery cases. This video illustrates the similarities and differences between a newly designed phacoemulsification tip and its predecessor in fluidic-related aspects, such as cavitation patterns, acoustic pressure using hydrophone recordings, particle image velocimetry and thermal patterns.
