Different IOL generations have been described; their evolution was in part a result of improved surgical techniques. Complications such as UGH syndrome led some IOLs to become obsolete; yet, they may still be observed with modern IOLs. Interactions between IOL designs from earlier generations and intraocular tissues are described and illustrated in the video through clinicopathological evaluation.
