ASCRS Foundation 2022 September Newsletter

Our ASCRS Foundation community is vital to our mission of eradicating preventable blindness and expanding physician education in the U.S. and abroad. Through your year-round support and volunteerism, the Foundation is able to continue providing charitable cataract surgery to patients in need. Thank you!

Join Operation Sight in celebrating our 7th National Sight Week, October 9-15, as we honor our volunteers who have provided vision to patients across the country when their treatment was otherwise inaccessible! We are incredibly grateful for the growing list of volunteer locations and surgeons for their impact this year. Festivities will include special features on our 2022 Volunteer Recognition page, updated resources, exclusive new digital swag, and much more.

Our recognition feature for practices and volunteer surgeons participating in 2022 is now LIVE on the ASCRS Foundation website!

We are recognizing the impact your volunteerism has in changing lives throughout National Sight Week. Whether you are a registered Operation Sight volunteer or looking to give back to your local community for the first time, National Sight Week is the perfect opportunity to get involved! If you are interested in becoming an Operation Sight volunteer and having an immeasurable impact, you too can change a life and be added to the feature list! Get recognized by donating or pledging a charitable surgery. The ASCRS Foundation is proud to spotlight the 2022 Operation Sight Volunteers of the Year in our newsletter. This month, we shine a light on Michael Graham, MD. Recognized for his passion, advocacy, and immeasurable impact on the lives of Operation Sight patients, Dr. Graham was recently interviewed about his experience partnering with the ASCRS Foundation to serve the need of his local community.

"In this country, some people can get lost in the system and never receive care. Operation Sight has an entire team to screen these patients and handle all of the patient coordination. This gives me a way to help those who truly need it, and I can refer patients from my office knowing they have another avenue for treatment. This is a very needed program, and it’s an easy experience to work with Operation Sight."
